TBWDYL Day 229 - Sound Off

Today my wife helped me discover the sound tolerance of our surrounding neighborhood. You see, I was to volume test the neighbors today by turning the volume up on the stereo and find out the level in which the neighbors would come running.

However, I have a big black guy to the left of me and a old gay guy to the right and the idea of either coming to tell me my music is too loud wasn't as appealing as it may sound. Instead, I had Diana, cell phone in hand, go to each of their front doors as I stood in the house and turned the volume up. I had her call me when she heard the music and recorded the findings.

  • Fairy Cowboy - Could be heard at a level of 48
  • Scary Black Guy - Could be heard at 50
  • Back Alley with Garage Open - Also heard at 50

Turns out the radio only goes to 50 but I didn't turn on the back speakers so we may have been able to get it at a lower volume. With the Annual White Trash Bash coming up, this is actually good info to have.

That is all,

Newt

you may want to consider testing with different types of music. and at different times of the day. if you want to get scientific about it.
80s house on a warm summer evening may set the perfect tone for the neighbour to your right getting his groove on...

I hear that "Achy Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus is a good one for pissing the neighbours right off. Not that I've tried it or anything.
Unless you live in an area where people actually like Billy Ray Cyrus. In which case, you may end up only pissing yourself off. Unless you like Billy Ray Cyrus. In which case, I'm not totally sure if we can still be friends.

Sas, thanks for the idea. Maybe at 3 a.m. the Fairy Cowboy would come over and we could do some old school break dancing.

I won't play Achy Breaky but I once lived in an apartment where people would party and I could hear it through my walls. I took "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy" from Ren and Stimpy and aimed the speakers at the wall. Then I just cranked it up and put it on repeat.

What does one have to do in order to get invited to the White Trash Bash?
