TBWCYL Day 201 - Did you get my message?

Well, today was an interesting day for the task and I spent a large portion of the day completing the darn thing. Today I was to send a message in a bottle. No, I wasn't supposed to serenade someone with a Police song, I was to actually send a message in a bottle. How do you do that you ask? Well, unlike someone stranded on a desert island, I have the handy postal service and private shipping facilities at hand and they got used.

I started with a bottle, the type to be announced later, and an idea for a letter. I typed up a lovely little note to someone, also to be announced later, and slid it in the bottle and popped a cork in it. I then wrapped it up and prepared it to FedEx out. We get a great rate for FedEx at my work and I looked at the price and compared it to the Postal Service and determined the post office would be cheaper. So, I took the box to the post office and was informed that the price online was not the price I had to pay.

Why, I just told that lady to give me a book of stamps and I would be on my way, thank you very much! I went back to work and repackaged the damn thing since you can't ship a FedEx package in a USPS box. Then I took it back to the shipping department and "Voila" I sent a message in a bottle.
Now then, to the specifics. I have sent this message to an individual who not only reads this blog but has one of their own. Until the message is delivered, I will not divulge any of the contents of the letter in question or the bottle it was sent in. Once the person has received the message, then and only then will I divulge its contents. So, you lucky reader you. You have a message coming.
That is all,

Newt

Did you not have to set the bottle adrift in a body of water? That seems so much more "message in a bottle" like.

I hope you sent it your wife. =) But maybe Kate...then at least it gets an international journey.

There is no reason that sending a message in a bottle would require water. The person that gets it will have to retrieve the message from said bottle and thus the delivery is complete.

Hey, let me know how you like that Susanna Clarke collection of short stories. I really enjoyed Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.

Will do. I was inspired to read it due to the two foreigners going at it over Jonathan Strange.
